There are moments when I find myself aching for a time I can’t quite name. Maybe it was childhood. Maybe it was early adulthood. Or maybe it was just the way life felt—slower, quieter, lighter.
Remember when we weren’t ruled by notifications, endless obligations, and the pressure to constantly produce? When dinner at the table meant conversation instead of screens? When a walk outside felt like enough for the day?
We live in a world that celebrates hustle. “Busy” has become a badge of honor. But deep inside, many of us are weary… not just physically tired, but soul tired.
And I believe God is whispering something very different.
“Be still and know that I am God. "Not do more and prove that I am God. Not run faster so you won’t fall behind. Just be still.
The enemy of our soul doesn’t always attack with chaos and crisis. Sometimes he simply keeps us distracted. Distracted with comparison. With performance. With constant movement that makes us feel productive but ultimately pulls us further away from peace.
But Jesus—our gentle Shepherd—invites us to lie down in green pastures. To restore our soul. To walk with Him at a pace of grace.
Maybe you’re feeling like I’ve been feeling lately: overstimulated, under-nourished. Caught in a cycle of doing but craving just being.
If that’s you, I want to remind you (and myself) of something beautiful: Simplicity is holy. Slowness is not laziness. And silence is not empty—it’s full of Him.
This season, I’m choosing to intentionally pull back. I’m choosing to listen for the quieter rhythms of grace. I’m giving myself permission to miss the old pace—but more importantly, I’m making space to rediscover what truly matters.
If you’ve been longing for simplicity too, you’re not alone. And the Father is not disappointed in your weariness—He’s waiting with open arms to give you rest.
Let’s Reflect Together:
What can you release from your schedule that isn’t serving your soul?
When was the last time you sat with the Lord in silence—without a plan, without performance, just presence?
Where is God inviting you to slow down and come closer?
Verse to Meditate On: "This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it."—Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)
Let’s be the ones who don’t conform to this frantic world, but who gently rebel with stillness and surrender. Simplicity is not a thing of the past—it’s a sacred way forward.
With you in this quiet journey,
- Bridget
