Deliverance Prayer and Declarations to Break Free From Religion & Performance Mentality

🙏 Prayer to Break Free from a Religious Spirit and Performance Mentality

Heavenly Father,

I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Lord, I acknowledge that I have sometimes tried to earn Your love, Your approval, and even my salvation through works and performance rather than resting in Your finished work on the cross. I repent for agreeing with a religious spirit and a mindset of striving, control, and legalism. I renounce every lie that says I have to work for what You freely give.

Father, I break every agreement I have made with a religious spirit, perfectionism, legalism, fear of man, and performance-based acceptance. I cancel every assignment of the enemy to keep me bound to striving and pressure. I declare that I am saved and made righteous through faith in Jesus alone, not by my own works.

I command every spirit of religion, legalism, perfectionism, fear, and striving to leave me now in Jesus’ name. You have no further authority in my life. I cast you out by the authority of Jesus Christ and by the power of His shed blood.

Holy Spirit, I invite You to fill every place in my mind and heart where these spirits once had a foothold. Fill me with Your love, Your peace, and the assurance of my identity as a child of God. Teach me how to walk in freedom, intimacy, and joy in my relationship with You, free from bondage to rules and performance.

I declare that whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). I choose to live as a loved, accepted, and forgiven child of God. I embrace Your grace and truth. Thank You for breaking every chain and every religious yoke off my life.

In Jesus’ mighty name,
Amen.

📖 Supporting Scriptures

Romans 8:15 (NKJV)
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”

Matthew 11:28-30 (TPT)
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”

Ephesians 2:8–9 (NKJV)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

John 8:36 (NKJV)
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

2 Corinthians 3:17 (NKJV)
“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

Colossians 2:20-23 (NLT)
“You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world. So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as, ‘Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!’? Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them. These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.”
