Sonship In Christ | Bridget Marcus

To come into sonship means to embrace your new identity as a child of God through faith in Jesus. The Bible describes believers as being adopted into God’s family (Romans 8:14–17, Galatians 4:4–7). This means:

You are no longer a slave to sin or fear.

You have the same legal standing as an heir, a child with full rights and privileges in God’s house.

You have intimate access to the Father, who relates to you as a loving Dad (“Abba”).

You can live confidently in your identity as part of His family.

In other words, sonship is not about gender but about a position of inheritance, belonging, and authority in Christ.

 Beloved Identity in Christ
To come into beloved identity means you accept and live from the truth that you are deeply loved by God, fully accepted in Christ, and valuable apart from your performance. This combats striving, shame, and orphan-hearted thinking.

When you know you are the beloved of God (Ephesians 1:4–6), it reshapes everything:

You live from love, not for love.

You rest in His acceptance, rather than trying to earn it.

You carry security instead of rejection or abandonment.

You move with confidence in your purpose, knowing you are cherished.

Sonship gives you the position (child of God).

Beloved identity gives you the affection and confidence (deeply loved child of God).

Together, they transform how you see yourself and how you relate to God and others no longer as a slave, orphan, or stranger, but as a beloved child and heir of the Kingdom.

 Romans 8:15–17
I have received the Spirit of adoption by whom I cry, “Abba, Father.” I am a child of God and a co-heir with Christ.

 Ephesians 1:5–6
I have been adopted through Jesus Christ and accepted in the Beloved.

 1 John 3:1
See what great love the Father has given me, that I should be called a child of God — and that is what I am!

 Galatians 4:7
I am no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

 Romans 8:38–39
Nothing can separate me from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord.
