When God Calls You to Rest... and You Resist It :Prt 1

There comes a time when the Father gently whispers, "Come away with Me. Rest."

Not because you're lazy. Not because you're broken. But because you're loved.

Yet for many of us—especially those who’ve lived under the weight of performance mentality—rest feels like failure. Stillness feels like punishment. Slowing down feels like losing control.

So we keep serving, striving, fixing, producing—thinking we're doing it for God, when really... we're running from what He's trying to heal.

But here's what happens when you refuse the rest God is calling you to:

Signs You're Resisting Rest:

You feel exhausted even after sleep.

You begin to resent what once felt like a joy.

Brain fog, forgetfulness, irritability set in.

You can’t feel God’s presence like you used to.

You confuse movement for momentum.

You spiritually plateau, even while doing "all the right things."

This is not a punishment. It’s a divine intervention.

God is calling you out of hustle and into healing.

Out of striving for love and into the safety of His embrace.

Performance mentality says: “If I stop, I’m failing. If I slow down, I’ll lose my purpose.”

But the Father says:“You are My beloved, not My employee.I long to restore your soul before you break under the weight of doing what I never asked you to carry.”

What Can Happen If You Keep Ignoring the Call to Rest?

Your body may start to break down—because it’s been holding stress too long.

Your relationships may suffer—because your heart is always preoccupied.

Ministry turns into maintenance—void of joy, peace, and power.

Emotional numbness creeps in—your soul is worn thin.

Friend, if rest feels uncomfortable... you may have been functioning in survival mode for so long that peace feels foreign. But rest is a weapon. Rest is a reset. Rest is where revival begins—in you.

Let God reintroduce you to yourself. Not the "doing" version of you, but the loved, chosen, cherished child of God.

Scriptures to Meditate On:

Matthew 11:28 – “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Psalm 23:2-3 – “He makes me lie down in green pastures… He restores my soul.”Isaiah 30:15 – “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…”

We must ask ourselves this question...

Has God been calling you to rest lately? What makes it hard to say yes? Let’s talk about it below. You’re not alone.
