" A Little Something for ALL of us to think about and take back to the Lord in prayer"
{ It's Time To Shift! Wake Up O Sleeper! }
Everyone has their own personal convictions. God knows each of our hearts and what we can handle or not handle. He knows our personal callings and seasons.
But there’s something I feel led to share because what we’re facing right now is a pandemic far worse than drugs.
What started out as something innocent, useful, and even helpful at times… has quietly caused more divorces, separations, deception, division, and robbery of family connection and childlike innocence than most realize.
We are living in a time where we’ve been so desensitized by what we see and hear daily that we’ve become numb. Things that are spiritually dangerous are now labeled as “normal.” Our minds, hearts, and attention spans were never meant to take in this much noise, comparison, chaos, and content all at once.
We blame anxiety, depression, divorces, and disconnection on everything else, but we rarely stop to look at the glowing screen in our hands.
Yes, God can use technology for good. He uses it for ministry, for connection, for sharing truth. But there’s a fine line between using it and it using us.
Let’s be honest for a second:
Pros of Social Media & Technology:• Staying connected with family and friends• Access to resources, encouragement, and teaching• Reaching the lost with the Gospel
Cons (and how they quietly outweigh the pros):• Comparison, jealousy, and distraction• Addiction to scrolling instead of seeking• Desensitization to sin and pain• Loss of genuine connection and conversation• Breakdown of focus, family time, and peace• Noise that drowns out the still small Voice
The truth is that our spirits are starving for stillness. We say we want to hear God more clearly, but our eyes and ears are filled with so much noise that it’s hard to discern His whisper.
There was a time when WiFi didn’t exist, yet peace and simplicity did. Families sat together. Kids played outside. Conversations were face to face.
When was the last time we sat on the porch just to watch the sunset?
When was the last time we picked up the phone to actually call someone instead of texting?
When was the last time we took a Sunday drive with no agenda, just to talk, laugh, and enjoy the moment or bake or create with a loved one?
When was the last time we prayed without checking notifications in between?
When was the last time we sat with our kids or loved ones, and with friends, fully present, without a screen between us?
There was a richness in those moments, something sacred that the internet can never replicate.
We are now living in an age of deception, where what is false is packaged to look true, and what is evil is dressed up to appear good. The enemy knows the power of constant distraction and confusion. This is how the Antichrist spirit will further push its agenda through influence, control, and deception spread through screens, voices, and images.
But here’s the good news: we don’t have to live in fear or fall for the FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). It’s okay to disconnect. It’s okay to step away. God will make sure you never miss what you need to know. When we are led by His Spirit, He will bring truth, warnings, and divine insight right on time.
I’m not saying we have to throw away our phones… but I believe the Lord is calling many of us to a holy reset. To lay down distractions, to get back to being present, and to rebuild connection, first with Him, then with one another.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15–16
It’s time to be wise with our time. It’s time to put the phones down and pick up our purpose again. It’s time to rediscover hobbies, laughter, nature, prayer, and quiet moments that feed our souls instead of drain them.
I’m personally making some changes in this area, and I encourage you to seek God for your own boundaries too. He may not call everyone to the same level of disconnection, but He is calling all of us to deeper connection with Him.
It’s time to shift.
Father, we come before You today asking for discernment and grace. Help us to recognize the things that steal our peace and distract our hearts. Teach us how to use technology with wisdom, not as our master, but as a tool for good. Lord, quiet the noise in our souls so we can hear Your still small voice again. Restore genuine connection within families, friendships, and most importantly, between You and us. Expose deception and guard our minds and hearts from being led astray. Remind us that we will never miss what You want us to know, because You are our Shepherd and our Guide. Help us steward our time wisely and live with eternity in mind. In Jesus’ name, amen.
